I have been lucky enough to write about music for the Daily Telegraph and The Spectator, on musicians including George Formby, Django ReinhardtRobert Johnson, Mahalia Jackson, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Sex Pistols.

I was also fortunate enough to write the obituary of Lemmy, founder of Motörhead, for The Spectator.

II have played in bands since I was 14. Usually guitar, but sometimes bass or drums.

One of the most memorable was The Binmen, with former Ozzy Osbourne drummer Frank Hall, and lead singer of Slade (and former lead singer of the Sweet) Mal McNulty.

More recently I have played with the Dubai-based rock band Sandstörm, the London rock band Sensei, and the London punk/new wave band 51st State,
