Affligem – A Knight’s Tale

Patrick's modern take on an 11th-century knight's clothing

Patrick’s modern take on an 11th-century knight’s clothing

How would a celebrity Savile Row tailor make a modern suit inspired by 11th-century armour? Patrick Grant (The Great British Sewing Beeneeded to design a modern suit that captured something of 11th-century clothing. So I helped by advising him on the details of period armour and knightly fashion. The aim was to tie Patrick’s artistry into the craftsmanship of the Affligem brand and the history of the six medieval knights who became monks and founded Affligem Abbey in 1062, where they and their successors created and perfected the drink.

The launch was timed to coincide with London Fashion Week 2014, and the story was carried in many leading magazines.  Esquire. Dash, Phoenix, The Luxury ChannelHotHot, MNSWR, Menswear StyleGentlemen’s Goods.
